Fathia Balgahoom

Fathia Balgahoom taught social studies and special education in northern New Jersey for three years. Among the courses she instructed were World History and US History I and II. She focused on incorporating creative activities that not only engaged students but that were inclusive and culturally relevant. Fathia Balgahoom coordinated with the Child Study Team to evaluate student progress and provide recommendations on education plan modifications and accommodations.

As a volunteer, Ms. Balgahoom also took part in launching the Bridgemen Believe Mentor Program and provided weekly one-on-one guidance that met students emotional and social as well as academic needs. Her experience as an educator extends to a teacher’s assistant position with the AppleTree Preschool, where she focused on ensuring a safe, welcoming environment that encouraged play and learning.

A Montclair State University graduate, Ms. Balgahoom earned academic distinctions such as the Outstanding Student Scholarship and the Student Government Association Executive Scholarship. Fathia Balgahoom was also a member of the rigorous Presidential Scholars Program and served as an Admissions Ambassador, while participating in a variety of student organizations on campus.
